How to Make Your Wedding Unique: 7 Ways to “Wow” Your Guests

The wedding industry is constantly coming out with new trends and ideas for soon-to-be wedded couples—so much so that it’s hard to keep up with which trends are noteworthy and, more importantly, “wow” worthy.

In a market saturated with so many ideas, it can be a bit of a challenge to find one or two that speak to you as a couple. You want to make your wedding unique, and we’ve got a few ideas to make that happen.

In this blog, we will call out the best—and most underrated—ways to “wow” guests on your wedding day and ensure the occasion is memorable for all the right reasons.

7 Ways to “Wow” Your Wedding Guests and Make Your Wedding Unique

In the realm of weddings, there isn’t much left untried. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of “wow” moments you can bring.

1. A Flower Girl: “Something Blue”

Wedding Unique

Looking to flesh out the “old, new, borrowed, blue” tradition? Why not shine the spotlight on your flower girl and have her personify your “something blue?” She’ll have a special outfit and a very important job to do—and what little girl doesn’t want to be the center of attention!

Complete the picture with a basket of dried blue petals for her to distribute liberally throughout the festivities.

2. Highlight Local Food and Products

Sustainability is on everyone’s mind these days. What better way to embrace this ideal than to design your menu around locally-sourced food and products? Work with your chef to come up with a menu that highlights local, seasonal ingredients. Call out growers and farmers on your custom-printed menus to formally introduce your guests to local producers and their wares.

3. Custom-Labeled Condiments, Wine, or Beer

Condiments and spices make delicious wedding favors. Chutneys, honey, maple syrup, or spice mixes can be packaged individually and finished with custom labels. Or, if you are craft brew or wine lovers, think about sending your friends and loved ones home with a custom brew, liqueur, or splits of bubbly labeled or packaged with your message.

Consider including an engagement photo on your custom labels– a little outside-the-box opportunity to pump up the “wow” factor.

4. Cake Alternatives

Many couples are stepping away from traditional wedding cakes and going for something that speaks to their personalities a little more. Cupcake assortments are an example, and they work exceptionally well when a couple can’t agree on flavors! Why settle for just one when you can have chocolate, coconut, red velvet, and vanilla? It’s also a great way to punctuate your wedding’s theme, like this day-of-the-dead-themed display—it really pops, and it’s not something you’d expect to see at just any wedding!

A multi-tiered cheese “cake” is another way to make your wedding unique. Create a tower of cheese wheels in varying sizes alongside the traditional cake for those who prefer something other than sugar after the meal.

5. Wedding Day Cookies

Wedding day cookies are a great way to commemorate the occasion with sugar on top. They’re the perfect favor for guests to take on the way out or as a special bonbon at each place setting when coffee is served.

Stencil or stamp the bride and groom’s names and the date directly onto the cookie for a bold statement. This example uses a custom stamp that can be used to press into fondant or pastry.

Other unique ways to up your wedding cookie game include printed cookies (yes, you can print on pastry!) or iced cookies that recall dates or locations that have meaning to you as a couple.

Another unique idea is to package your cookies in custom to-go boxes printed with your names, the date, or slogans you frequently use to make your guests smile.

A custom cube box can pull double-duty as a favor box or for guests to take a slice of cake or a couple of cupcakes home.

6. Personalized Reception Table Names

Wedding Unique

Every couple has its own unique dynamic and history. Instead of numbering your reception tables, name them after places, milestones, or special moments that have meaning for you. For example, animal enthusiasts might name each table after a cherished pet. Travelers could choose destinations they’ve traveled to—or places they plan to go. Favorite song names, concerts, where you met, where you had your first kiss—think about the things that speak to your heart, and you’ve got the recipe to make your wedding unique.

7. Tell The Story of Your Love

Your love story is epic, so why not bring it home with custom infographics? Your printed cards can be placed on tables or at each place setting, or if your story is too long to fit onto a portable page, print your infographic in life-size for your guests to explore.

Alternately, tell your love story in chapters, with “stations” set up for each milestone of your journey. If you’re planning an outdoor wedding in a country setting, you could get pretty creative with your story, taking guests on a bit of adventure along the way with small favors at each station and a photo booth or a champagne bar at the end of the trail.
