How Pup Confections Turned Baking + Design Into a Tail‑Wagging Brand (with a little help from Stomp)

Meet Stomp Customer Gracy McGuigan, Founder & Head Baker of Pup Confections. Her journey from laid‑off designer to gourmet dog‐treat artisan inspires us and we’re super grateful she chose us for her custom printed labels. If you’re building a brand (pet or otherwise), her story holds lessons on quality, authenticity, and visuals.

From Graphic Design to Gourmet Treats (Yes, Dogs Get the Best)

After years in graphic design for big brands, Gracy faced an unexpected layoff in 2023. Instead of sulking, she fired up her oven and followed her nose—literally. Combining her love of dogs, baking, and design, she started whipping up homemade dog treats made with human-grade ingredients, free from fillers, preservatives, or anything you wouldn’t eat yourself.

Her first customers were friends and neighbors whose pups couldn’t get enough. Soon, word spread, and Pup Confections took off. “I wanted to makes something wholesome, pretty, and worth wagging for,” Gracy says. “Each treat is crafted with care so pups get a delicious snack made with love.”

Are Pup Confections treats safe for dogs?

Yes! Pup Confections uses human-grade ingredients and is licensed by the Office of Texas State Chemist Feed. Store sealed at room temperature for 1–2 weeks, or refrigerate/freeze to extend freshness.

What Makes Pup Confections Stand Out

You won’t find mass-produced mystery biscuits here. Every Pup Confections batch is baked fresh, hand-cut, and packaged with that same design-driven touch. Gracy’s design background helps her create eye-catching packaging that turns heads at farmers markets and pet-friendly events.

If you’re wondering whether the treats are really safe enough for your pup, here’s the scoop: they’re licensed by the Office of Texas State Chemist Feed and made with ingredients you can pronounce. Store them like you would your own snacks—sealed tight on the counter for a week or two, or in the fridge or freezer to keep them fresh longer.

Choosing the Right Print Partner

As her business grew, Gracy realized the packaging had to match the quality of her treats. “As a small business, packaging is super important—it needs to stand out and feel professional,” she told us. That’s when she found Stomp.

Custom sizes? Check. Bold colors that match her designs? Double check. Easy online proofing and quick shipping? All boxes ticked. “Everything turned out exactly how I envisioned, and I couldn’t be happier,” she adds.

For small businesses like Gracy’s, those details matter. Custom sizes ensure the packaging fits perfectly, while high-quality printing helps her brand look polished whether she’s selling online or at events.

What kind of labels or packaging work best for small-batch dog treats?

Custom-sized labels with durable finishes help products look professional at markets and during shipping. Clear, matte, or gloss options paired with color-accurate printing keep designs sharp and on-brand.

Growing a Brand That Gives Back

Gracy isn’t stopping at treats. Her goals include launching more seasonal and specialty products, partnering with local trainers and vets, and collaborating with rescue groups. She wants Pup Confections to be as community-driven as it is dog-approved.

That’s why she loves attending pet events—meeting other dog lovers face-to-face, handing out samples, and chatting about ingredients (yes, the same ones you’d use in your kitchen). And thanks to sturdy, beautifully printed labels that can handle travel and handling, her packaging always looks as fresh as the treats inside.

Lessons for Other Makers

  • Quality shows. Customers notice when your packaging feels professional.
  • Custom sizing matters. Don’t force your product into a one-size-fits-all label.
  • A print partner should be a teammate. Good communication and reliable service make all the difference.

Whether you’re baking treats, roasting coffee, or crafting candles, smart printing is a small investment that pays off in shelf appeal and customer trust.
