How Sweet Snack Mixes and Creative Packaging Helped MiMixi Flourish (with some help from Stomp)

All it took was a single sweet idea for Nia Mitchell to bake up her snack mix and dessert business, MiMixi. Packaging is just as important to Nia as her unique flavors, which is why we’re thankful she chose our custom printed labelsfor her delectable treats. Her story offers lessons for all food makers on how to stand out and stay inspired—even when faced with thoughts of self-doubt.

A Flavor-Fueled Beginning

MiMixi started in September 2021, when Nia brainstormed an idea for a pumpkin spice snack mix. Before she knew it, Nia had created more than 10 different flavors of sweet snack mixes (the kind of mix you don’t have to pick around for the good stuff). “Within a month, we were setting up at local farmers markets and received an incredible response,” Nia recalls.

MiMixi has since launched a website, added savory mixes, and provided treats for many events and birthdays. What’s even sweeter? Nia’s latest creation of No Bake Bites, a line of no-bake cookies that come with a presentation that’s just as delicious as the many flavors.

What Makes MiMixi Stand Out

Nia sees opportunity everywhere, with her creativity at the heart of MiMixi. But her attention to detail and product presentation are also essential to catching the eyes (and stomachs) of customers. And instead of focusing on the competition, she channels her energy into creating things that are authentic to her.

From thoughtful packaging to new seasonal flavors, every decision reflects her passion for quality and originality. “It’s very important to me that I love what I do. That what I offer is of quality, and that I can be proud of the treats that I’ve created,” says Nia, adding how much she values positive feedback.

Lessons for Other Snack Makers

  • Don’t focus too much on competition. Think outside the box.
  • Stay authentic to your brand. Make food that you’ll be proud of!
  • Intentional packaging. That showcases your ingredients and branding.

Big Goals, Big Heart

Nia’s biggest goals for MiMixi are simple: to love what she does and provide treats for everyone, across tastes and budgets. She wants customers to think, “How did she come up with this?!” while leaving them feeling genuinely delighted. But she’s also learned the importance of pacing herself (especially with burnout) and staying present, choosing to embrace optimism even when doubt creeps in. 

“I mingled with the idea of stepping away from it, but creativity and passion were persistent, mixed with a bit of FOMO,” Nia told us. “I love all of the brainstorming that comes with it, and I’ll continue to progress with every idea I come up with.”
